Direct Line will pay up to £40 in total leaving the client to pay £32. Although it may seem inconvenient to actually pay for a windscreen chip repair it would be more risky to trust the nominated supplier to try and repair it as they are normally only able to repair 16% of damage they get given whereas glass doctors are able to repair 84% so you may end up with an excess bill for £75 if it goes wrong. Thats £43 MORE expensive!

Is it "smaller than a £1 coin" ? If so there is a reasonable chance of a good repair if it is reasonably fresh.
